Reedcrest Professional Bassoon Reed

Made by professional bassoonist Josh Faiella, Reedcrest Professional Basson Reeds are designed for intermediate through expert bassoonists. The distinctive arrowhead style scrape on these reeds is fundamental in Reedcrest's finishing method. This scrape allows for careful pianissimo, stable fortissimo, and easy articulation. 

The Christlieb shape is a wide goblet-style shape. This shape offers a dark, complex tone and fast response. They work exceptionally well in the low register but perform excellently in all registers. In the owner’s experience, this shape requires more care in the finer details of embouchure and throat shape. This aspect of the shape provides a unique and flexible sound.

The Rieger 1A shape is a concave-style shape which tends to be punchy and flexible. They are one of the most widely used shapes due to their versatility, consistency, and complex tone. These reeds are a jack-of-all-trades. In the owner’s experience, this shape has very stable intonation and a reliable core to the sound.
